Trailing 8-4, Reed Maday caught fire, hit one of two free throws, a layup, two three pointers, and a three point play on a driving layup to give Park a 16-8 lead; Park wouldn’t look back.

Stephanie Ritchie hit a jumper, Klatt hit a jumper, and, on back-to-back possessions, Klatt assisted on Bartholomay baskets.
Paris Delaney hit a bomb from just inside the arc, and Bartholomay hit Klatt with a nice back-door pass and layup, and the half ended with Park leading, 28-8.

The second half was more of the same, as Park’s offense continued to click, and Cooper could only muster four second half points.

Kristan Hampton hit a floater, Bartholomay banked in a 12-footer, Maday and Klatt hit three-pointers, and Klatt hit a layup to push the lead to 40-9 midway through the half.

Delaney joined the fun when she threw in a three-pointer, and Bartholomay hit Klatt again for an easy basket.

Freshmen Mara Olson and Katie Caron got some playing time and each performed well. Olson forced a turnover which led to a Bartholomay three-pointer, and Klatt hit Bartholomay for an easy basket with time running out, and a 50-12 final.

Friday, November 30, 2007 @ Richfield High School
St. Louis Park JV Girls vs. Richfield

Park struggled in their first game of the season, losing to Richfield, 63-33, Friday night.

Richfield jumped ahead early, running the lead to 10-2 before Park showed signs of life. Park’s Amelia Klatt broke a long scoring drought when she nailed a jumper to make it 12-4, then Tricia Bartholomay made a nice pass to Megan Bolin who hit a driving lay-up, was fouled, and hit the free throw to cut the lead to five, 12-7.

Park’s Alison Agather showed her guts on the next Richfield possession when she took a charge, and the momentum shifted Park’s way. After a few turnovers, though, Richfield scored the next 10 points before Klatt nailed a three from deep in the corner.

Paris Dalaney played great “in your face” defense throughout the half, but Richfield was a fine passing team, and they kept finding the open player, and they shot the lights out.
Park trailed 32-19 at half, and couldn’t get any closer.

Richfield’s junior center, Quianna Nelson, had 25 pounds on any defender Park could throw at her, and was unstoppable in the paint. Park didn’t score until almost 11 minutes into the second half, when the score was 46-19, but Ashle Johnson hit a nice shot which led to a 6-2 Park run.

Reed Maday took a charge then came down and nailed a three-pointer cutting the lead to 20, 48-28, but Richfield ran off the next 9 points to take the air out of the Orioles.

Richfield ran the lead to 30, 59-29, when Bartholomay drove to the basket and got fouled; she made both free throws.

On Park’s next possession, Bartholomay drove again and nailed a beauty off the glass to make the score 63-31.

Delaney grabbed an offensive rebound and scored Park’s last basket as time ran out, not a moment too soon.

There were many bright spots for Park, with Reed Maday doing a nice job running the offense at the point, and, despite being over-matched size-wise, Park battled for every rebound.

Bartholomay showed great poise for a sophomore, playing under control, and scoring six points.
