Girls Varsity Lacrosse vs. Benilde St. Margaret’s

The St. Louis Park Girls Lacrosse team remained unbeaten Tuesday night as Carley Rosen continued her hot scoring streak with four goals to lead the Orioles to an 11-7 win over the Benilde-St. Margaret’s Red Knights.

It was the fourth straight win for the Orioles, all at the stadium while the Red Knights evened their record at 2-2.

The Orioles didn’t take long to begin the scoring when Tasha Liberman picked up a ground ball, pivoted on the left side of the net and scored. Rosen’s first goal came as she cut through several Red Knight defenders.

Benilde-St. Margaret’s scored three straight goals. Caroline Rasley, Maddie Bergh and Kelly Kosiek put the Red Knights in the lead.

Both teams traded goals in a one minute, 25 second stretch with Rosen scoring for St. Louis Park and Rasley for Benilde-St. Margaret’s. But the Orioles regained the lead on three consecutive goals from Carey Hoppmann, the hat trick from Rosen and Liberman.

The Red Knights began the second half scoring on Bergh’s second goal Once again, the Orioles went on a three goal run as Rosen passed to Hoppmann from behind the net and she put it in. Hoppmann assisted on the second goal that was scored by Hannah Erickson.

Kosiek cut the St. Louis Park lead to three with her second goal and the Orioles widened the margin with Erickson’s second goal. Julia Schroeder, coming off the bench to replace Rosen, who had to sit out due to a yellow card scored the Orioles final goal. Kosiek got the hat trick with 48 seconds left to wrap up the Red Knight scoring.

For the first time this season, the Orioles will venture outside the stadium to face the Cooper Hawks in New Hope Thursday night at 6:30. They will also travel to Totino-Grace Saturday afternoon at 5:30 and close out the road swing next Tuesday night with a 7 PM game against Minneapolis at Southwest.
